‘Owa Obokun: Great custodian of culture’ Awotuyi eulogizes late monarch

The Chairman and Founder, Bright Broadcasting Limited, owners of Diamond FM, Ilesa, Apostle Oluwole Awotuyi, has eulogized the late Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, who passed away after 42 years on the throne.

Awotuyi described the late first class monarch as a trailblazer, a detrabalized Nigerian and custodian of culture who cared about the growth and development of Ijesa land.

In a statement issued at the head office of the broadcasting firm in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Thursday evening, Awotuyi also lauded the king for solidifying the unity of Ijesaland and projecting the image of the people.

The industrialist described Owa’s exit as glorious, but noted that the void will be difficult to fill, considering his remarkable footprint as a Yoruba monarch.

“It is with heavy heart that I heard of the exit of our dear King, the Owa Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II.

“Rather than mourn, we celebrate his life and time on earth, which was spent largely to impact lives, advocate peace and unity, as well as engender growth and development of the Ijesa in particular.

“Before and during his 42 years old reign, the Owa Adimula also committed great energy into preserving the Ijesa cultural heritage and projected our image everywhere he went. We take solace in the unparalleled legacy his Royal Majesty left behind,” he said.

The media proprietor, a prominent son of Ilesa, commiserated with the Aromolaran family, the Owa-in-Council, sons and daughters of Ijesaland, and the people of Osun under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

He prayed for the repose of the Monarch’s soul as he joins his ancestors.
