A political activist, Aisha Yesufu, has thrown her weight behind the call for capital punishment for election riggers.

The co-founder of BringBackOurGirls campaign made this call in a post on her X handle Friday, October 17,2025.

Her comment follows Abia State Governor Alex Otti’s recommendation of unforgivable sanctions on those championing election malpractice in the country.

Otti, who sounded the warning at the Government House, Umuahia, yesterday, during October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, warned those planning to rig elections to first write their wills.

Governor Otti’s warning, was a reaction to a question directed at him from a journalist in regards to the recent statements credited to the Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu where he noted that his party, the All Progressives Congress, will take over the rulership of Abia in 2027.

Otti, who declared that he is not afraid of threat by the Deputy Speaker’s statements, said Kalu was entitled to contest the 2027 governorship election in Abia but must learn to play according to the rules.
