Dangote Group Clears Air on Alleged Involvement in Akungba-Akoko Accident


The Dangote Group has denied reports linking one of its trucks to a fatal road accident that occurred in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Recall that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had earlier confirmed that eight people died in the Akungba-Akoko crash, which involved a truck and a bus, and the FRSC Public Education Officer in Ondo State, Abiola Fadumo, revealed that the accident occurred when the truck rammed into a commercial bus, resulting in multiple fatalities.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 23, 2025,on its X page, the company, however, clarified that the truck involved in the crash, identified with Plate No. JJJ 365 XB does not belong to Dangote Group or any of its subsidiaries.

The company stated that the truck was not carrying any Dangote products but was instead transporting crushed stones in reused sacks branded with various company names.

Dangote Group also explained that all its trucks are properly branded, tracked, and operated by trained personnel under strict safety compliance.
