The Group Head of Programmes and Content, Diamond FM, Ilesa and Ilorin, Babatunde Okunlola has clinched the 2023 Nigeria Media Merit Awards for the Best Radio Production of the Year.

The NMMA awards ceremony held in Lagos on Sunday, December 17, 2023, and was attended by the who-is-who in the media sector.

According to the organizers, 908 entries were received this year while works judged were those produced in 2022.

According to the Chairman panel of accessories for the NMMA, Mr Dele Adetiba, an entry has to top the category and score not less than 70% to be nominated. 

“Accessors have guidelines which make it easier to reconcile points, such as language , depth accuracy, originality and many more,” he said.

Babatunde Okunlola fondly called FTO is a winner of the 2022 Wole Soyinka Investigative awards for journalist, and also multiple fellow of other awards.

The Oyo born native’s work is internationally recognized by globally acclaimed media institutions, with several international fellowships, honors, awards and nominations to back it up.

He is a 2021 INTERNEWS Health Journalism Network Ambassador to Nigeria, Nominee in the 2021 One World Media Awards (Radio and Podcast category), 2021 Mandela Washington Alumnus Ambassador and 2019 Fellow, and 2018 ICFJ fellow on Early Childhood development.

Babatunde is also a 2018 BBC Komla Dumor Awards finalist, winner and fellow in the 2018 ICFJ climate and migration fellowship awards for Nigerian journalists, 2017 Obama Young African Leaders Initiative (Rlc West Africa) special prize award winner and fellow.

The broadcaster and content creator is also a YIAGA Bounce Corruption Ambassador, and a Radio Netherlands training center alumna amongst other feats.
