As part of efforts to enhance the Nursing Science Programme at the University of Ilesa, the Board of Trustee, Ijesa Endowment Fund, Friday, officially handed over the newly built and equipped Nursing Laboratory to the management of the institution.
The handing over ceremony held on Friday, January 03, 2025 at the premises of the University, was attending by dignitaries, government officials and top management staff of the university.
Speaking during the historical event, the Chairman of the Ijesa Endowment Fund, who is also the Sawe of Ijesaland, Chief Akinwande Akinola, noted that the building of the Laboratory was conceptualized during the last Administration in the state and has now come to reality.
According to him, the move was to ensure that the nursing academic programme offers international best standard teachings and ranks among the best in the country.
Also in his words, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the institution, Hon. Olugbenga Onigbogi lauded the donors of the new edifice and also appreciated the commitment of other stakeholders.
This, he said is another testament to the commitment of the Ijesa people towards the rapid advancement of academic service at the university.
The Pioneer Vice Chancellor, University of Ilesa, Prof. Taiwo Asaolu, thanked the State Government led by Governor Ademola Adeleke for its support in the last 20 months and the provision of funds totalling N4 billion for running the institution.
He also disclosed that the institution’s Senate has approved commencement of additional 8 courses in the school.
These include Medicine and Surgery, Agriculture Science, and Yoruba Language, among others.
Meanwhile, the Chairman Board of Trustee Ijesa Endowment Fund, Chief Akinola performed the official handing over to the Pro-Chancellor of the school.
The event also witnessed a brief tour around the new building.
