Ijesa Indigenes Eager for Development Fund Oct 21 take-off – Asiwaju Fasuyi


The Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Chief Yinka Fasuyi says all is now set for the take-off of the Ijesa Development Fund, October, 21, 2025.

Addressing chief executives of media houses in Ijesaland at a media parley on Tuesday, 02 October, 2025, Fasuyi said several sons and daughters of Ijesaland both home and in diaspora have expressed optimism about the development fund and are largely indicating interest to be part of the initiative.

The Ijesa Development Fund – first of its kind in Nigeria – was established to enable sons and daughters of Ijesaland contribute financially into a coffers, dedicated for the execution of social amenities across the six local government areas in Ijesaland.

Flanked by members of the Ijesa Community Development Assembly, ICDA, the foremost Ijesa leader said the annual contribution from all eligible Ijesa indigenes ranges from N1 million to N1,000, in one or more local government council depending on individual financial status.

“Under this initiative, each Ijesa indigene both home and abroad will be expected to contribute specific amount into this joint account. The amount to be contributed is in 10 stages and ranges from N1million to the lowest which is N1,000. Once payment is made, your name appears on the Ijesa Developers Register website for all to see,” he said.

He further added that natives will be allowed to contribute not to their local government area alone, but also other LGAs that makes up Ijesaland to be recognized as a bonafide and full-fledged son and daughter of Ijesaland.

“For instance, my personal residence is here in Ilesa-East, but my father’s compound is in Iwoye, Ilesa-West. After contributing N1m in Ilesa East, I’ll also like to do same in Ilesa West and even other four LGAs.”

Fasuyi explained that relations, traditional rulers and chiefs are expected to take responsibility for some financially incapacitated natives in their communities.

On the execution of projects, the Asiwaju explained that while the ICDA will oversee the scheme, the body has also set up an ICDA-IDF representatives in each ward.

“Seven of the ward representatives are executives who will oversee the project execution while the other 13 representatives will monitor the project.”

The Ijesa development fund is to be launched by the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, who will be joined by traditional rulers and other eminent dignitaries on the twenty-first October, 2025 at the Gold City Event Centre, Iloko, Ilesa.
