The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has announced that a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Wale Abbas, will take the lead in the investigation of the alleged killings of three residents of Akinlalu town by the state’s Amotekun Corps.
Abbas, who currently serves as Chairman of the Osun Amotekun Board, has been directed to ensure a thorough probe into the role of the Corps Commander, Adekunle Omoyele, in the incident.
Governor Adeleke made this known on Monday, October 13,2025,during a condolence visit to Akinlalu, assuring residents that justice would be served and promising comprehensive medical care for the injured victims.
He also commended the community’s youths for maintaining peace despite the tragedy, urging them to remain calm as the investigation progresses.
Earlier, the Youth Leader of Akinlalu, Musbau Adeboye, had demanded the suspension and probe of Omoyele over the killings, who according to police sources, has failed to honour repeated invitations to explain his role in the killings.
