The body of a robbery victim, simply identified as Adeola, was on Tuesday found inside a well at an uncompleted building at the Oke Agunla area of Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State.
The body was dumped in the well to conceal it from the public by yet unknown attackers, suspected to be armed robbers.
Adeola, a popular commercial motorcyclist known as an “Okada” rider, had gone missing since Friday evening, as he did not return home from work.
One of the victim’s family members told Diamond FM that all efforts to find him, proved abortive until the tragic discovery Tuesday morning, after frantic efforts to know his whereabouts.
DiamondFM crew had reported the case to police Division at Ijebu-Jesa, who promptly commenced a discreet investigation. His mobile phone also rang endlessly but was not answered until it switched off, making it difficult to track.
The assailants are believed to have dumped the body in the well and made away with his motorcycle.
The site owner who spoke to Diamond FM, Ilesa revealed that his workers discovered the remains of the victim minutes after they arrived the site for work, prompting him to call the phone number made available as requested by the radion station.
Another witness, described the incident as shocking and unnerving, adding that the building had been abandoned for the past three months, until the site owner, returned to the property for the first time in months.
“He told us that he arrived this morning with some diggers to continue digging the well and stumbled upon the lifeless body.
“The attackers have poured sand on him to cover the body and it was already swollen and producing fowl smell. The discovery prompted him to immediately raise the alarm,” he said.

Chairman of Oke Agunla community, Lukman Balogun, joined the media crew to swiftly report to the police after the entire neighborhood was alerted by the site owner’s outcry early Tuesday morning.
Men of the Nigeria Police Force were on ground at the scene, to oversee the evacuation of the body. The remains have since been deposited at a morgue in Ilesa as authorities continue investigations into the sad incident.
