President Bola Tinubu has appointed Zaccheus Adedeji as the Acting Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
Until his appointment, Adedeji was the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue and also Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State from 2011 to 2015.
The announcement was made on Thursday, September 14, marking a new chapter in the leadership of one of the country’s most critical revenue agencies.
Reacting to his new appointment, experts said his extensive revenue generation and financial management background positioned him as a strong contender to lead the FIRS during a pivotal time for Nigeria’s economy, maintaining that Adedeji’s expertise is expected to be crucial in achieving these objectives and supporting the nation’s economic growth.
As Acting Chairman of the FIRS, Adedeji will oversee the agency’s operations, tax collection efforts, and initiatives to enhance tax compliance.
