Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House rejects N10m application for contestant of Owa stool

The Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House has vehemently opposed the N10m (ten million naira) charges as application for those contesting to ascend the throne of Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.

The family said there is no provision for such payment under the chiefs law of Osun State, adding that any amount charged is contrary to the customary law of ljesaland

The family stated this after they met with officials of llesa West Local Government under the Head of Local Administration for an interactive session at the Secretariat on Monday.

According to them, the HLA at the meeting confirmed the rumor that has been in the public domain that every contestant would pay N1m for the form and N9m for development.

Describing it as outrageous, the family said the Stool of Owa is not a political post and there was no precedent for such payment.

However, members of Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House unanimously volunteer to pay N500,000 for the form and N500,000 for the development
