Diamond FM has expressed pleasure over the selection of Babatunde Okunlola; Diamond FM’s Group Head of Content, as a fellow in the prestigious 2024 Kwame Karikari Fact-Checking Fellowship. 

The Kwame Karikari Fellowship, generously supported by the National Endowment for Democracy, empowers journalists with the skills and resources necessary to combat misinformation and promote factual reporting.

Babatunde Okunlola brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the fellowship, with over a decade of experience in journalism, he has a proven track record of creating content and impactful journalism for audiences in Nigeria’s diverse media landscape covering the different geopolitical zones in the country.

“We are pleased to inform you of your selection as a fellow in the 2024 Kwame Karikari Fact-Checking Fellowship,” said Temilade Onilede, Programme Officer for Dubawa Nigeria. 

The fellowship training program commences on the 26th – 29th February, 2024, while the programme duration starts on 1st March – August, 2024.

The 2024 Kwame Karikari Fellowship has over 30 participants across the continent, who will be equipped with the latest fact-checking techniques, data analysis skills, and ethical considerations in journalism. Fellows will also have the opportunity to collaborate with renowned experts and mentors in the field.

Babatunde is Group head of content for Diamond FM, Winner of the 2023 Nigeria Media Merit Awards, Winner: 2022 Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting , 2021 INTERNEWS Health Journalism Network Ambassador, 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow , 2018 ICFJ ECD Fellow, YIAGA Bounce Corruption Ambassador, 2017 YALI RLC (West Africa) Fellow among other honors.
