The Global President of the Federation of Iwoland Students’ Union, FILSUNHQ, Comrade Salawu Azeez Adebayo, has shed light on the controversy that led to the impeachment of the Speaker, Adetona Yasir Abiola.
Adebayo denied allegations of graft in the executive, explaining that he was being victimized for denying the speaker his request to access the Union’s fund for private use.
He also denied allegations of violence during his appearance at the house sitting, accusing the impeached speaker, rather of attempting to foment trouble.
The FILSU President in a statement personally signed by him, and issued Thursday, December 05, 2024, in Iwo, revealed that the Abiola threatened to make his stewardship difficult during sitting, because he refused to allow him use the Unions fund for his personal use.
Adebayo, who disclosed that he has credible evidence of his claims, vowed to provide documents and videos on request to any member that requires proof.
The FILSU President however apologized to members for temporarily locking the group, explaining that the decision was made to avoid spread of fake news and sow seeds of discord.

*A Call for Clarity and Integrity in FILSU Over Embezzlement Of Fund and Misuse of Power From the Impeached Union Speaker, President decision to Stand Firm Against it cause all the hullabaloo in the union*
Dear Filsuites,
I bring you warm greetings and express my profound gratitude to God for His love and guidance over us and this administration since January. It is by His grace, not our power, that we have come this far.
Let me also extend my heartfelt appreciation to all Filsuites for your cooperation and unwavering support over the past 11 months. Your dedication and commitment have been the backbone of our collective progress.
Before proceeding, I owe you an apology for temporarily locking the group. This decision was made to shield the Union from falling victim to the spread of fake news, which could harm our reputation and sow discord.
Now, I would like to address the ongoing issues within our Union, particularly concerning the recent controversy involving the Impeached Union Speaker.
*The Origin Of The Issue*
The problem began when the Impeached Speaker, Hon. *Adetona Yasir Abiola (San Harbiola)* contacted me, requesting for significant sum of money unlawfully from the Union’s account. I declined because I firmly believe that the Union’s funds belong to the community and must be used solely for its development. Despite my refusal, he persisted, asking to meet in person. When we met, he repeated his request, which I again rejected. This led to his angry response, threatening to make my stewardship difficult during their sitting.
For anyone doubting my account of events, I have evidence to support my claims and am willing to provide them to any Filsuite who reaches out privately.
*On the Bank Statement*
Regarding the financial transparency demanded by the Parliament, we received their memo on Thursday evening, requesting us to appear on Sunday. Due to the unavailability of my fellow executives, we couldn’t visit the bank on Friday for the statement. Nevertheless, we presented our documentation during the sitting. Unfortunately, instead of a fair hearing, impeach Speaker pressured us without allowing us to fully explain the circumstances.
*Allegations of Violence*
It has been alleged that I caused violence during the sitting. Let me categorically state that this is untrue. In fact, it was impeached Speaker who attempted to incite conflict. However, I remained calm and refrained from any form of violence. I have a video recording to substantiate my claims, which is available upon request.
I must also highlight the irregularity of the Parliament recording videos during the sitting, as this breaches standard Union protocols.
*A Call for Unity*
I urge all Filsuites to dismiss the misinformation being spread. The claims are baseless and aim to tarnish the integrity of this administration. Let us remain steadfast and united, as we continue working toward the progress of our community.
Thank you once again for your support and understanding.
God Bless FILSU.
God Bless Us All.
Yours humbly,
Comrade Salawu Azeez Adebayo
FILSUNHQ Global President
