Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has endorsed Yahaya Seriki as his preferred successor under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the party’s governorship primaries in Kwara State.
The governor made the endorsement in a personally signed statement, where he described Seriki as a young, people-oriented, astute, and broad-minded politician with strong political mobilisation capacity and widespread goodwill across the state.
AbdulRazaq expressed confidence in Seriki’s ability to lead the state, stating that his choice is appropriate for the people of Kwara at this time.
He, however, clarified that the endorsement does not stop other aspirants from participating in the party’s primaries scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, urging party leaders and members to support Seriki in the interest of unity, cohesion, and the continuous success of the party.
The governor added that the endorsement should not be seen as a rejection of other aspirants, describing them as qualified individuals with the capacity to move the state forward.
According to him, with about sixteen aspirants contesting for one position, only one candidate can eventually emerge at a time.
AbdulRazaq also commended the aspirants for their maturity, discipline, and commitment to building on what he described as the achievements of his administration over the past seven years.
