Osun NBC Urges Media Practitioners To Further Uphold Broadcast Codes, Ethics

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Osun State Chapter has admonished Media Practitioners in Nigeria, particularly in Osun State, to keep upholding the rules guiding broadcast practice in Nigeria.

The State Officer, Aderonke Oladipo, gave the admonition on Tuesday, February 06, 2024, during a courtesy visit to the Management and Staff of Diamond FM, Ilesa. In company of the State Officer were Felix Abiodun and Nkem Okpara.

Oladipo said contrary to the notion that the NBC works for any ruling government, the commission strictly carries out its duties in line with the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which has been made available to all broadcast media outlets, in a bid to guide against sanctions for breaching the codes.

Speaking further, she maintained that the commission is saddled with the responsibility of regulating ethical standards and technical excellence in public, private and commercial broadcast stations in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, earlier in his welcome address, the General Manager of Diamond FM, Ilesa, Adeyemi Badewa, commended the Osun NBC for keeping broadcast stations in the state on their toes, and always guiding them to uphold the standards and codes guiding the media industry.

He, however, assured the commission that the media organisation will not default in complying with the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, adding that the Management and Staff of Diamond FM, Ilesa, will continue to strive to work towards the growth and development of the media industry.
