The Rotary International Club of Ilesa Metropolitan has presented Diamond FM, Ilesa, with a leadership award in Community Media Service.

The award was presented at an Investiture and Fundraising ceremony held by the club on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in an Event Centre at Ido-Ijesa, Ilesa, Osun State.

The two-in-one ceremony was in honour of Rotarian (Barrister) Olayinka Sokoya, who was sworn-in as the club’s 8th President yesterday.

Rotarian (Barrister) Sokoya, who expressed joy while receiving the mantle of leadership from his predecessor, who led the club between 2022 and 2023, Rotarian (Dr) OlusanyaOlujide, appreciated God for the leadership privilege, and vowed that with the help and support of his board and fellow club members, he would surmount challenges that lie ahead and further take the club to a place of Eldorado.

The new president, who is a graduate of the University of Ado Ekiti (Now Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti), in his acceptance speech, further congratulated his predecessor and his board members for their successful tenure, calling for the supports of all the past presidents throughout his one year tenure, to run it effectively.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of Diamond FM, Ilesa, Adeyemi Badewa, who graciously received the award on behalf of the organisation, congratulated the new president and pledged the organisation’s continued support for the club.

Highpoints of the event were red carpet, recognition and decoration of Rotary Ambassadors, musical rendition, dance, toasts, entertainment of guests, among others.
