Federal Government meets Tompolo, Ijaw Monarch to curb Oil Theft

The Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, has met with the former leader of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo, seeking sustained collaboration in upholding peace in the region, facilitating optimal oil production and minimizing oil theft.

It was gathered that the meeting took place on Sunday, 24th of September in Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The minister also met with the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, as part of his ongoing strategic consultation efforts to address the multifaceted challenges in the oil-rich region.

Momoh who conveyed Mr. President’s message and his hosts deliberated on strategies to combat crude oil theft and improve infrastructure in the region.

Meanwhile, the minister appealed for continued efforts to uphold peace in the region, facilitating optimal oil production and minimizing oil theft.
